I miss this place. SO MUCH.
ICONIC.
Shockingly, in New York, there are 300 resettled children in federal custody. These kids are currently being sheltered almost 2,500 miles away from where they last saw their parents / guardians. If you’re inclined, you can help them by donating to the Mayor’s Fund:
“Donations will be used to support organizations that are working locally and nationally to provide help including: legal and social services, medical care, help with release from detention, and supplies including toys, food, and water.”

Visiting Africa for the first time was profound. This sounds cliche, but I seriously felt like I was at home. People see you. They acknowledge your physical and spiritual presence. Nothing is taken for granted.
In Kenya + Zanzibar, I saw and felt the people too. I felt the effortless way Africans connected with strangers and those they knew forever by offering a friendly smile and eye contact. Kenya's natural diversity and cinematic sunsets paired with Zanzibar's gorgeous beaches and cultural history made for unforgettable experience. The magic of East Africa is real.
Pretty hanging arrangement. Seen in The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
The animals see you too.
Say Cheese.

As a native Brooklynite and natural hair care enthusiast, it was a great honor to direct and produce content celebrating Black beauty and natural hair care leader, Lisa Price. Price offered the mainstream a different standard of beauty. Carol's Daughter allowed women of color to love their curls and for that, we thank you. Happy 25th anniversary!

Thank you ancestors for passing down the gift of music. Thank you Mom for writing your name and astrological sign on your records, leaving breadcrumbs on your favorite jams. Selector's Note: This mix contains skips, crackles and pops. Enjoy the bumpy ride.
